What You Can Do With Your Empty Tree Island Yogurt Containers

Posted on

At Tree Island Yogurt, we design our containers to be 100% recyclable and we’re also proud that they use 50% less plastic than standard yogurt tubs.

When it comes to additional sustainability and yogurt, some of the most creative ideas we’ve seen have come from Tree Island customers who give our containers a second life before they ever hit the blue bin. (Some never even make it there)

One customer recently sent us a video of how they turned a Tree Island container into a backyard bird feeder and it brought us so much joy, for us, them and the birds. Spring is almost here, and we love the idea of our containers helping feed the neighbourhood birds as they return and nest.

Here are some other fun ways you can reuse your Tree Island Yogurt containers at home, on the balcony or in the yard.

Seed Starters for Spring Gardens

Our containers are the perfect size and depth for starting seeds indoors. Poke a few drainage holes in the bottom, fill with soil, and you’ve got a mini greenhouse for tomatoes, herbs, or flowers before transplanting season.

Arts & Crafts Storage

Crayons, beads, buttons, Lego. If your house is full of tiny things that need organizing, these containers work beautifully. The lids snap tight, and you can see what’s inside at a glance without having to open each one.

The storage may also turn into the toy itself.

Snack Containers for School or Family Trips

Whether for cut-up veggies, crackers, trail mix or fruit, our containers are durable, reusable and easy for kids to open and close themselves.

Homemade Piggy Banks

Just cut a slot in the lid, decorate the outside and show your child how to save up for something special. It’s simple, but it works, and it’s fun.

Paint Palettes or Brush Holders

We know artists and crafters appreciate a sturdy container for mixing colours or holding water and brushes. Plus, they’re easy to clean and don’t tip over easily.

If you’ve repurposed a Tree Island container, we’d genuinely love to see it. Tag us on Instagram @treeislandyogurt or send us a message.

And if you’re not the crafty type? That’s okay too. Recycling them properly is always a great option. However you choose to use them, thank you for being thoughtful about it, and the earth.
